November 30, 2015

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) this evening hosted a telephone town hall to answer his constituents’ questions about the issues facing Tennessee’s Ninth Congressional District and the nation. During the telephone town hall meeting, the Congressman discussed a wide variety of issues including enrolling in the Healthcare Marketplace; improving our roads, bridges, and mass transit; fighting for increased funding for the National Institutes of Health to fight deadly diseases; helping reduce our rape kit backlog; and assisting with navigating federal agencies.

“These town hall meetings offer Memphians and all citizens of the Ninth District yet another way to speak directly with me and share what’s important to them,” said Congressman Cohen. “I appreciated having this opportunity to listen to the Ninth District’s perspective on the issues from veterans to prison reform as well as other issues facing our community. I also enjoyed discussing my work and legislation with more than 12,000 Memphians. Hearing the perspective, opinions and ideas of my constituents helps me best represent the Ninth District in Congress.”

The Telephone Town Hall meeting began at 6:30PM CT and lasted roughly one hour. Since being elected to the House of Representatives in 2006, Congressman Cohen has hosted dozens of town hall meetings in his Congressional district and via telephone from Washington, D.C.
