Congressman Cohen Joins Freshman Class In Calling For Ethics Reform

May 15, 2007

Washington, DC -- Earlier this morning, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) joined his fellow freshmen lawmakers in urging Congress to act on its plan for comprehensive ethics reform. Congressman Cohen, a co-sponsor of Rep. Baron Hill's H.R.1754, a bill that would establish an independent ethics commission under the legislative branch, joined twenty of his Democratic colleagues in calling for floor action on ethics reform.

“The 2006 elections made it clear that the voters of America want a change in the way Congress is run,” said Cohen. “We're fortunate to have a great Speaker in Nancy Pelosi and a great freshman class, with Democratic leadership committed to addressing this issue. An honest, open, ethical Congress remains one of my greatest priorities throughout the 110th Congress.”
