Congressman Steve Cohen to Speak at LeMoyne-Own College Black History Month Event Wednesday, Feb. 21

Memphis, TN -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) will speak at the Second Congregational United Church of Christ on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. as part of LeMoyne-Owen College’s Black History Month event “Bridging the Gap Between Government and Community. At the event Congressman Cohen will be recognized for his contribution to the community and to LeMoyne-Owen College.

Congressman Cohen stated, “It is an honor to be recognized, but the real honor lies in the opportunity to work together, with LeMoyne-Owen and the community, to increase opportunities for our young people. Education is the key to success and I appreciate the fine work that LeMoyne-Owen does in educating our citizens. I will continue to work in Washington to help students financially, through Pell Grants and the reduction of student loan interest rates.”

The Second Congregational United Church of Christ is located at 764 Walker Avenue.
