Marzie Thomas Joins Memphis Office of Congressman Steve Cohen

Washington, DC – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) has appointed former Tri-State Defender publisher and editor Marzie G. Thomas to his staff at the Memphis district office.   As a special assistant to Congressman Cohen, her responsibilities will include veterans affairs and community outreach, including working with the religious community on areas of common interest such as civil rights, health initiatives and poverty issues. 

Congressman Cohen stated, “Marzie brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to my Memphis office.  I’ve long admired Marzie’s expertise and know that her understanding of the needs of the community will be a great asset.”

Ms. Thomas is a board member of the Goodwill Homes Community Services, Inc. of Memphis and is a member of the National Newspaper Publishers Association and East Trigg Avenue Baptist Church.  She is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and attended LeMoyne-Owen College. 
Ms. Thomas joins district director Sherman Greer, deputy district director Randy Wade, associate district director Alycia Carter, special assistants Tracey Goodman and Willie Henry, staff assistant Linda Yan and executive assistant/scheduler Susan Sowell.
