In Meeting with Moroccan Delegation, Cohen and FedEx Promote International Trade as Path Towards Memphis Job Growth

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) this week joined American business leaders including David Short, Memphis-based FedEx’s International Director, in meeting a delegation of Moroccan business leaders accompanying His Majesty, the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI on his visit to the United States. At the Wednesday meeting, Congressman Cohen discussed how expanding trade with nations like Morocco can help grow jobs both in Memphis and abroad.

“Great American companies like FedEx already operate throughout Africa and around the globe,” said Congressman Cohen. “I enjoyed this opportunity to discuss with Moroccan leaders how we can expand trade in North Africa and improve our standing and relations with other nations, which will help create good-paying jobs right here in America.”

Representing the Moroccan business community at the meeting were Maroc Telecom CEO Abdessalam Ahizoune, Attijariwafa Bank DEO Mohamed El Kettani, Casablanca Stock Exchange CEO Karim Hajji, and Moroccan Finance Board CEO Said Ibrahimi. Among the American business leaders attending the meeting with Congressman Cohen and Mr. Short were representatives from JP Morgan Chase, Citi, Bank of America, and Chevron.
