MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) and state Senator Raumesh Akbari sent a letter to Governor Bill Lee asking him to redouble efforts to see that Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) cards reach eligible families. The P-EBT program allows families with children who are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches to receive food benefits if their schools shut down or they are otherwise not able to attend school due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a longtime member of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, today led a letter to House Leadership requesting it retain his Interior and Environment appropriations amendment requiring the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to utilize $11 million in funding for humane, reversible fertility control for tens of thousands of wild horses and burros under the BLM's protection.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today wrote to General Service Administration Administrator Emily Murphy, reminding her of longstanding document requests he made about the Old Post Office in Washington now operating as The Trump International Hotel. Murphy has declined to declare that Joe Biden is the President-elect, preventing the transition to a new administration to begin.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today wrote for a third time to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin asking for clarification of the Treasury Department's plan to forgive Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans despite clear evidence that some were obtained by fraud. In today's letter, Congressman Cohen urged the Secretary to ensure necessary controls are in place to deliver maximum relief to PPP borrowers while maintaining the government's ability to prosecute PPP fraud.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will receive a $442,391 grant from the National Cancer Institute for research on epigenetic tumor suppression.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded Shelby County a $117,000 grant for ongoing air pollution monitoring.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"Air pollution is a health hazard, especially for those with compromised health conditions, like asthma. The funding I'm announcing today will protect our air resources by supporting a robust program monitoring air quality and enforcing clean-air regulations. This is money well-spent."
