[WASHINGTON, DC] – The U.S. House of Representatives today approved Congressman Cohen’s amendment to H.R. 4984, the Empowering Students Through Enhanced Counseling Act, which would ensure that student loan borrowers are informed of and adequately understand the risks associated with their loans, including those issued by private lenders with excessively high interest rates and fees.
[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced a new grant worth as much as $150,000 in federal funding to support the planning, design, and public art for the Memphis Heritage Trail. This funding was awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts’ (NEA) Our Town grant program.

The bill would limit interest rates and fees at 36% for all consumer credit transactions, the same rate cap that is already protecting military personnel and their families.
