WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) expressed cautious relief that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, the subject of numerous ethics scandals and corruption allegations, has at long last resigned. He released the following statement:
WASHINGTON – Two environmentally friendly amendments offered by Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) passed the House this morning as part of a federal spending package covering annual Energy & Water, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs appropriations. One prohibits the House of Representatives from purchasing plastic drinking straws for its cafeterias and food service areas. The other provides an additional $2 million to the Department of Energy's SuperTruck II Program.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) offered an amendment to a House spending bill to prohibit the House of Representatives from purchasing plastic drinking straws for its cafeterias and food service areas. The amendment passed late this evening by a voice vote.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"Congress should lead the effort to limit the introduction of plastic drinking straws, which not only harm our environment but are particularly dangerous for fish and marine mammals, into the public waste system."

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) received a 100 percent score on the Defenders of Wildlife 2017 Conservation Report Card for his support of a variety of environmental conservation measures during the first session of the 115th Congress. He is one of only two members of the Tennessee delegation to receive a perfect score.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) received a 100 percent scores from the League of Conservation Voters on Tuesday after its assessment of his voting record. In addition to his 100 percent score this year from the League, Congressman Cohen has the highest lifetime conservation score of the entire Tennessee congressional delegation.
