WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), the Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, today voted for, and the House passed, two articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump. The President has now been impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress and will be tried on those charges in the Senate.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee and the Chairman of its Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, voted in the committee this morning to move two articles of impeachment against President Trump to the House floor.
During a two-day markup Wednesday and Thursday, the committee considered a variety of amendments before sending articles charging the President with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress for the full House to take up next week.

The articles, to be debated later this week in the Judiciary Committee, charge the President with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

As Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, Congressman Cohen conducted several hearings on this bill, including one at the University of Memphis School of Law in September.
