WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, today presided over a hearing on "Citizens United at 10: The Consequences for Democracy and Potential Responses by Congress."

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) went to the well of the House today to condemn the lack of diversity in President Trump's appointments to the federal judiciary, to his cabinet and to the Tennessee Valley Authority's Board of Directors.

"I'm concerned about the lack of diversity, the lack of care about diversity, that this Administration shows in its appointments and in its actions," he said. "In the federal judiciary, the President has nominated approximately 250 judges, six of whom are African American. That's a disturbing and chilling number."

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee which has oversight of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) today wrote to President Trump to criticize the lack of diversity in his nominations to the TVA's board of directors and to urge him to nominate minority and more women candidates to make it representative of the region it serves.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today voted for, and the House passed, the Comprehensive Credit Rating Enhancement, Disclosure, Innovation and Transparency (CREDIT) Act. The bill features elements of his Free Access to Credit Scores Act and his Equal Employment for All Act.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today questioned General Services Administration (GSA) Administrator Emily W. Murphy at a Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management hearing on "GSA Outleases and the Trump Old Post Office Hotel."

Congressman Cohen asked Administrator Murphy about a confidentiality agreement involving the long-term lease of the Hotel Monoco located in GSA's historic Tariff Commission Building in downtown Washington.
