WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Friday, May 25, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) sent the two attached letters to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and Tennessee Coordinator of Elections Mark Goins requesting an investigation into the alleged disenfranchisement of hundreds of Shelby County voters.

MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today attended the Veterans Administration’s Memorial Day Service at the Memphis National Cemetery and spoke to members of the press assembled there about the alleged disenfranchisement of hundreds of Shelby County voters. Cohen made the following statement in response to the discovery by Bev Harris, the Director of Black Box Voting, that the voting histories of close to 500 Shelby County residents, many of them lifelong voters, seem to be altered to make it appear that they did not vote in recent elections.

MEMPHIS, TN – Yesterday, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) presented the son of T.O. Jones with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for his role during the 1968 sanitation strike. T.O. Jones was president of Local 1733 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) at the time of the strike. T.O. Jones passed away on April 12, 1989.
