MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the Shelby County Health Department's Ambient Air Monitoring Network will receive a $520,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will receive a $473,819 grant from the National Eye Institute for research predicting the risk of glaucoma.

"I am always pleased to announce research funding from one of the National Institutes of Health. This particular funding will help address glaucoma which disproportionately affects the African American community. I am sure it will result in better outcomes for patients."

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Co-Chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, better known as the Helsinki Commission, today participated in a briefing with experts assessing Ukraine's defensive needs in its ongoing war with Russia.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today spoke from the House floor on the Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural (CROWN) Hair Act, that will prohibit discrimination on the basis of hair texture or styles commonly associated with a particular race or national origin. He later voted for the measure which passed the House 235 to 189.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen, a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today spoke from the House floor in favor of the Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal (FAIR) Act during a debate on the measure and later voted for it. Congressman Cohen also took the occasion to explain that partisan blame for inflation and oil prices are misguided because they are worldwide problems, not something for which President Biden should be faulted.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Co-Chairman of the Helsinki Commission, today spoke in favor of ending normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Congressman Cohen later voted for the measure, which passed the House 424 to 8.
