Small Business Forum and Money for College Workshop
August 15, 2011
I am participating in two big events this week in Memphis and encourage small businesses and parents of children preparing for college to consider attending.
On Friday, August 19, I will join with the City of Memphis and the U. S. General Services Administration to bring small businesses and the federal government together in a Small Business Forum called “Getting Back to Business” at the University of Memphis from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Program highlights include Meet the Buyer’s Forum, one-to-one counseling, a Technical Resources Panel, a networking and business card exchange, and other programs. This event is open to all small businesses. To register, please send an email to r4smallbiz@gsa.gov with your business name, and names of individuals attending from your company.
On Saturday, August 20, I will host a federal financial aid for education workshop at BRIDGES, which is located at 477 North 5th Street in Memphis, from 10 a.m. to noon. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Education will present information about federal resources on how to pay for college. And representatives from the HOPE Lottery Scholarship will also present information on Tennessee financial aid. Please call my office at 901.544.4131 to RSVP.
