Congressman Steve Cohen spoke on the House floor about legislation he is cosponsoring that would end the federal war on marijuana and let states legalize, regulate, tax and control marijuana without federal interference. The legislation would limit the federal government's role in marijuana enforcement to cross-border or interstate smuggling.

The recent flooding in Memphis is an historic event that is impacting many families but the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers remains vigilant and committed to protecting human life and property. The Mississippi Valley Division and its districts have launched a new Facebook page to provide accurate, timely information on the flood. On May 6th I joined other members of the Tennessee Congressional delegation for a briefing and tour of north Memphis and north Shelby County. I am very concerned about the relief and recovery efforts during this next round of Flood Warnings in the Mid-South. I wanted to share the following flood preparedness information with my constituents.

WHAT A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN MEANS TO YOU
Congressional leaders are negotiating on a budget bill to keep the government running but it is possible that they will not reach an agreement before the current bill runs out at the end of this week. The government will shut down Friday at midnight if they fail to come up with a bill that can pass Congress and that the President can sign.

My office is hiring a Veterans Case Worker through the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program.
This program is limited to veterans who have served on active duty since September 11, 2001, have at least a 30 percent disability rating, and less than 20 years of service. Please note my office will not be receiving resumes directly. Interested applicants must apply through the Wounded Warrior Program.
