MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art will receive a $250,000 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to accommodate its move to a new facility on the Memphis riverfront. WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that two University of Memphis professors will receive $525,000 in grants from the National Science Foundation. Thomas Goebel, an assistant professor at the University’s Center for Earthquake Research and Information, will receive grants of $425,000 and $50,000 for seismic research projects. Jessica Jennings, an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, will receive $50,000 to study improved tissue regeneration.

The measure would require enrollees at law enforcement academies to receive sensitivity training on ethics and racial bias, cultural diversity, and police interaction with the people with disabilities, those in a mental health crisis, and new immigrants.
