[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today announced that he plans to offer his Seat Egress in Air Travel (SEAT) Act (H.R. 4490) as an amendment to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization bill. FAA Reauthorization bill is scheduled to be marked up by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on Thursday. The SEAT Act would direct the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to establish minimum seat size standards for the safety and health of airline passengers.

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Subcommittee on Aviation, today introduced a the Seat Egress in Air Travel (SEAT) Act to direct the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to establish minimum seat size standards for the safety and health of airline passengers.

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today welcomed the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) decision to abate the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) contract of Warren Apartments, Tulane I Apartments, and Tulane II Apartments due to owner’s default. Warren and Tulane apartments are owned by the Global Ministries Foundation (GMF). Pursuant to the HAP Contracts and HUD regulations, GMF is required to maintain the units in a decent, safe, and sanitary manner but has failed to do so.

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today was selected by the House Judiciary Committee as Ranking Member of the committee’s Executive Overreach Task Force. The Executive Overreach Task Force will conduct hearings and investigations relating to separation of powers and executive overreach issues and will issue reports to the Committee detailing its findings and recommendations.

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a longtime champion for animal rights and welfare, received a perfect 100+ score from the Humane Society on its legislative scorecard for 2015. Congressman Cohen, who received the highest rating out of all members of the Tennessee Congressional delegation, was noted for being an original cosponsor of H.R. 3268, the Prevent All Soring Tactics (PAST) Act.
