WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today questioned witnesses about recent immigration raids in Mississippi and Tennessee at a field hearing of the House Committee on Homeland Security in Jackson, Mississippi.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today wrote to Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, demanding answers regarding the state's decision to withhold hundreds of millions of dollars to help low-income families through the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program.
Tennessee has the 10th highest poverty rate in the nation.
In his letter, Congressman Cohen wrote:
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) questioned witnesses today at an Education and Labor Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Human Services hearing titled "Long Overdue: Exploring the Pregnant Workers' Fairness Act (H.R. 2694)." In his questioning, Congressman Cohen asked about accommodating pregnant women by employers offering them leave and also raised questions about the conditions for pregnant women at the XPO Logistics warehouse in Memphis.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Center will receive a grant of $448,750 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for research involving immunology, allergies and transplantation.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be receiving a grant of $9,965,625 from the National Cancer Institute for research on experimental and preclinical modeling involving acute leukemia. The funding is part of a cooperative agreement with the specialized research facility.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis will receive two grants totaling $765,763 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The first grant, for $410,606, from the Department's National Cancer Institute, would pay for cancer treatment research. The second grant, for $355,157, from the Department's National Institute of General Medical Sciences, would underwrite research in pharmacology, physiology and biological chemistry.
