MEMPHIS, TN - A medical miracle is needed to save 2-year-old Chloe Grauer. Her family, desperate for help, has found themselves in a battle for medical cannibas oil, despite a new state law.

WMC Action News 5 first introduced you to Chloe in April. She turns 3 years old in just a few weeks, but has spent most of her life on drugs that make her sleep. When she's awake, she has seizures.

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced 3 federal grants totaling $1,187,971 in funding for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This funding comes through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and will be used for a variety of programs and research projects.

“This funding will be used to continue important work at St. Jude, one of the world’s finest health care institutions,” said Congressman Cohen.

MEMPHIS, TN - Congressman Steve Cohen has asked judicial committee chair Bob Goodlatte for a hearing on police brutality. He says following the Ferguson shooting and protest and so many other incidents, this is a civil rights issues and he wants it reviewed.

It's been a tough week for Ferguson, Mo. as people across the country watched events unfold.

"The response in Ferguson was really shocking. It looked more like something in Ukraine than the United States," Cohen said.

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) was awarded with the National Association of Community Health Centers’ 2014 Distinguished Community Health Advocate award this morning. Congressman Cohen accepted the award during National Community Health Center Week at the Memphis Health Center, which is expanding thanks in part to $4.7 million in federal funds provided by President Obama’s Affordable Care Act. Memphis City Council members Harold Collins and Myron Lowery Tuesday stood in the parking lot turned construction zone where the Memphis Health Center is expanding on E.H. Crump Boulevard near Danny Thomas.

“I was a patient at this facility as a kid,” said Collins, 51. “When your father is a cabdriver and your mother never worked out of the house, you can’t go to a pediatric service provider somewhere else. You’ve got to come where it’s free.”
