WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded the city of Memphis $3 million in Lead Hazard Reduction Demonstration funds to perform lead hazard reduction activities and coordinate with community partners to educate, train and mitigate lead concerns in housing units. The program will evaluate 350 homes for lead paint hazards and eliminate lead hazards in 220 homes.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded two new federal grants worth more than $682,000 for clinical research related to neurological disorders. The first grant is worth $382,813 and has been awarded to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The second grant -- worth $300,000 – will go to Translational Sciences of Overton Park Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital two grants worth more than $760,000 for research. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) will give St. Jude $382,813 to fund research on neurological disorders. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) will distribute $380,224 to fund St. Jude’s research on cancer detection and diagnosis.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded the University of Tennessee Health Science Center a grant worth $333,000 to fund research on arthritis and musculoskeletal and skin diseases.
