WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) again received the highest possible score from the Defenders of Wildlife on its 2020 Conservation Report Card for 14 critical votes during both sessions of the 116th Congress.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced two National Institutes of Health grants to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC). The first, for $580,839, from the National Institute of Environmental and Health Sciences, is for research on the epigenetic response to organophosphorus compounds. The second, for $226,000, from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, is for work on oral diseases.

Introduced with Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois, the measure will help put an end to the for-profit college industry's aggressive recruiting of veterans, service members, and their families.

WASHINGTON – Representatives Steve Cohen (TN-09), Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Vern Buchanan (FL-16) and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) today led a letter with more than 100 Members of Congress asking Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to publish a rule to prevent the intentional harming of horses known as "soring" that the Obama Administration was days from publishing in 2017 when Vilsack previously served as Secretary. The rule was withdrawn by the Trump Administration.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today attended his first hearing of the Committee on Natural Resources that he joined in January. The hearing, which he attended remotely, was on Discussion Draft of the Insular Area Climate Change Act. The insular areas of the United States are territories that do not belong to one of the 50 states, and include Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the University of Memphis will receive a $593,239 grant from the National Science Foundation underwriting a project involving three-dimensional super-resolution light microscopy of thick, unprocessed biological samples.
