MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, today released a statement in response to the recent killings of African Americans in rural southeast Georgia, Louisville, and Minneapolis:

MEMPHIS -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Memphis Health Center Inc. will be receiving a grant of $1,252,973 and Christ Community Health Services will be receiving a grant of $1,480,859 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"These substantial supplemental grants to our Memphis community health centers is both welcome and critically needed. These centers meet the health care needs of some of our most underserved residents in communities hard hit by this pandemic."

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) and Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) today introduced the Cash Refunds for Coronavirus Cancellations Act. The bill would require major airlines and third-party ticket sellers to offer full cash refunds for all cancelled tickets during the coronavirus pandemic, regardless of whether the airline cancelled an entire flight or if the passenger cancelled his or her individual ticket.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will receive a "High Priority, Short-Term Project" grant of $493,016 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for viral research.

"This high-priority grant will stimulate critical work on viruses during the coronavirus pandemic. It's my hope that this funding will result in important discoveries at our premiere children's research center."

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Christ Community Health Services Inc. will receive a $450,000 grant from the Department of Health and Human Services for postdoctoral training in general, pediatric and public health dentistry and dental hygiene.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will receive an "Outstanding Investigator Award" grant of $353,256 for research on molecular mechanisms of nucleic acid machines from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will receive a $4,395,266 grant from the National Cancer Institute to conduct research on pediatric brain tumors.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) returned to Washington and voted this evening for a $3 trillion measure to address the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and its impact on the national economy. The measure contains funding for state and local governments, hospitals, first responders, our health care workers, testing, another round of $1,200 economic impact payments and increased spending for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), among many other things.
