[MEMPHIS, TN] - Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice, today commended President Obama’s decision to commute the sentences of 61 drug offenders incarcerated in federal prisons, including two Memphians. Under current federal law, many of these prisoners would have already completed their sentences and been released.

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today honored veterans of the Vietnam War during the 50th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony at the Memphis Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. On May 25, 2012, President Obama proclaimed that Memorial Day, May 28, 2012 through Veterans Day, November 11, 2025 as the “Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War,” designating March 29 as Vietnam Veterans Day.

[WASHINGTON, DC] – On the 6th anniversary of President Obama signing the Affordable Care Act into law, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today highlighted the many ways that the law is benefiting Tennesseans. The President’s Affordable Care Act, signed into law on March 23, 2010, ensures that no American can be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition, prevents insurers from charging more solely because someone is a woman, protects families from health-related bankruptcy, and provides access to free preventive care services for our seniors.
