MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced that Memphis will open a new Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Business Center within the next few weeks to help minority businesses gain access to contracts, capital and markets thanks to a U.S. Department of Commerce grant worth $1 million to be administered over the next four years. Congressman Cohen has worked several years to secure funding for a MBDA Business Center in Memphis.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced that the Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded a $2,192,625 economic adjustment assistance grant to the Memphis and Shelby County Port Commission for rail infrastructure improvements in the President’s Island Industrial Park to combat commercial disruptions caused by flooding from the Mississippi River.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) tonight hosted a Telephone Town Hall on the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act and its many benefits. U.S. Health and Human Services Deputy Secretary Bill Corr joined Congressman Cohen on the call to answer constituent questions.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today sent a letter to Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam outlining his concerns with the “check engine” light issue and asking the Governor to work with him to resolve this problem. The letter is a continuation of Congressman Cohen’s effort to resolve the ongoing problem where vehicles in Memphis fail their emissions test due to an illuminated “check engine” light.
