[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Subcommittee on Aviation, today offered his Seat Egress in Air Travel (SEAT) Act (H.R. 4490) as an amendment to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization bill at a House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee meeting. The amendment, which would have required the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to establish a minimum seat size and minimum distance between rows of seats for the safety and health of passengers, was defeated by a vote of 26-33.

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a member of the House-Senate Conference Committee for the federal highway funding bill and a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today hailed the House passage of H.R. 22, the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act), a bipartisan, long-term surface transportation bill. The FAST Act provides $305 billion in guaranteed funding for America’s transportation and infrastructure programs over five years. It also reauthorizes the Export-Import Bank for four years.
[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has selected a proposal from the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) for $2,640,000 in federal funding under the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) program for the purchase of three new electric rail trolleys for downtown Memphis.
