MEMPHIS, TN – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded Tennessee $3,722,177 in new federal funds to replace the Memphis Airways Bridge over Nonconnah Creek at the same location as a result of bridge scour and erosion.

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Memphis International Airport and U.S. Representative Steve Cohen (Tennessee’s 9th Congressional District) today announced the awarding by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of a $31.8 million grant to be used for runway safety, pavement and security projects at Memphis International Airport.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has agreed to a change in Memphis’ recent Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) IV grant that will redirect approximately $5.6 million to improvements in downtown Memphis. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood agreed to this change yesterday while on a call with Congressman Cohen.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Memphis and Shelby County have received two federal grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation worth a total of $1.2 million. The first grant -- worth $800,000 -- is for the purchase of two water taxis and to design and construct docking connections at points along Mud Island and in Wolf River Harbor. The second grant -- worth $400,000 -- will develop planning and preliminary design to reconstruct US 78.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Legislative language Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) authored to spur development of the Memphis aerotropolis transportation system was included in the bipartisan agreement to continue funding for our nation’s highway projects. The bipartisan $109 billion transportation bill funds construction for highways, bridges and other transportation projects for the next two years.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced that the Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded a $2,192,625 economic adjustment assistance grant to the Memphis and Shelby County Port Commission for rail infrastructure improvements in the President’s Island Industrial Park to combat commercial disruptions caused by flooding from the Mississippi River.
