WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, today voted for a rule that advances major elements of the Biden-Harris "Build Back Better" infrastructure plan. The rule also set annual budget targets for 2022 through 2031 and sends the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to the floor for a vote later today.
The vote on the rule was 220 to 212.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, spoke from the House floor this afternoon to urge passage of major infrastructure legislation. The House was called back to Washington on Monday, but a vote on a rule to consider the measure, as well as the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Budget Resolution, had to be delayed.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) delivered brief remarks from the House floor this evening, urging everyone eligible for a coronavirus vaccination to get one. He noted that conservative radio talk show host Phil Valentine and Memphis football star Danton Barto, have passed in recent days, unvaccinated, but urging others to get the shots.

The hearing was the sixth on the subject of voting rights this year and comes a day before H.R. 4, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, is expected to be introduced in the House.
MEMPHIS — Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) released a new study today showing the Child Tax Credit pumped $18.6 billion into local economies nationwide in July alone. In Tennessee, this tax cut for working families put a total of $401,989,000 into the local economy and $321,591,000 million directly into families' pockets benefiting 1,260,000 children in July. Based on the July payments, the new study from the Joint Economic Committee estimates the Child Tax Credit Monthly Payments will continue to pump $18.6 billion into local economies each month.
MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today asked the White House to extend the national eviction moratorium that ended Saturday and threatens and put 11.4 million people at risk of homelessness during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Congressman Cohen re-introduced the Emergency Eviction Enforcement Act in March to protect vulnerable tenants from evictions during a national emergency or public health crisis.
