WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) was appointed to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence today. In his new role, he will be involved in the nation’s approach to a wide variety of threats to national security. In response, he made the following statement:

Markey of Massachusetts, a member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, today reintroduced the Complete Streets Act, which would transform America’s public roads. The bill would require states to direct a portion of their federal highway funding toward the creation of a Complete Streets Program.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), the Ranking Member of the Aviation Subcommittee, today questioned expert witnesses at a hearing on the implementation of last year’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) learned of the passing of former New York Congressman Charles B. Rangel on Sunday at 94 and made the following statement:
“I had the honor of serving with Charlie Rangel for 10 years. A gentleman and a legislative giant, honored by Memphis with the I AM A MAN award, we stood together on healthcare, drug reform, Cuba and much more. I was always proud to vote alongside him and the Congressional Black Caucus he founded. He was one of the greats. May he rest in peace.”

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a member of the House Democrats’ Litigation and Rapid Response Task Force created to address Trump Administration power grabs through intervention in the federal courts, today applauded a Boston federal judge’s ruling preventing the dismantling of the Department of Education.
