WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced two grants addressing mental health and substance abuse from the Department of Health and Human Services. Downtown Memphis Ministry Inc. will receive $349,721 for its Shelby Veterans Treatment Court Enhancement Project from the Center for Substances Abuse Treatment. Alliance Healthcare Services will receive $1 million for its Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic from the Center for Mental Health Services.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the City of Memphis will receive two grants totaling $2,771,378 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Program. One grant of $1,680,469 is for operations and safety. The other, of $1,090,909, is for vehicle acquisition.

Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe examines human rights and the war in Ukraine
MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Co-Chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, also known as the Helsinki Commission, today spoke at a virtual hearing of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE-PA) about his new role as the assembly’s special representative for political prisoners.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will receive a $507,693 grant for ethanol research involving the arteries and brain from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.
