[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced a total of $766,872 for several different projects at the University of Memphis. This funding comes through both the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

“This funding will help keep the University of Memphis at the cutting edge,” said the Congressman.

[MEMPHIS, TN] – While speaking at today’s 8^th annual University of Memphis Freight Conference, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced that the University has been selected by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) as the Southeast Regional Surface Transportation Workforce Center, along with nearly $1 million in federal funding to help launch the new Center. Congressman Cohen, who supported the University’s application for this prestigious selection that will help create jobs, is a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will open a new Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Memphis tomorrow to assist citizens who were affected by the flooding that took place in the region on September 11, 2014. The Shelby County outreach center will provide one-on-one assistance to citizens applying for disaster damaged real estate recovery loans of up to $200,000 and disaster damaged personal property loans of up to $40,000.

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced a total of $834,460 in federal funds to fight and prevent youth violence in the Ninth District. The funding, which comes just days after Congressman Cohen announced $850,000 to fight youth violence in schools, was awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) through two individual grants to the City of Memphis as well as to Shelby County.
