WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, is preparing to introduce a resolution of censure against Justice Samuel Alito for publicly flying the American flag upside-down, a commonly understood symbol of the “Stop the Steal” effort which falsely claimed Donald Trump won the 2020 Election.  This expression of political support for Donald Trump and opposition to Joe Biden publicly demonstrates Justice Alito’s political bias and constitutes a serious breach of judicial ethics.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) has introduced the bipartisan Benton MacKaye National Scenic Trail Feasibility Study Act, which would authorize a study to designate a 287-mile trail linking Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina as a National Scenic Trail. A companion measure was introduced in the Senate by Senator Raphael Warnock of Georgia. The trail which crosses mountains and valleys and passes alongside streams and waterfalls is on federal land for 95 percent of its length and would be administered by the U.S.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today questioned witnesses at a Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government hearing on “Antisemitism on College Campuses.” His remarks were initially interrupted by protesters in the hearing room who were removed. In his remarks, he noted the long history of right-wing antisemitism and many of his colleagues’ inconsistent responses to anti-Jewish bias.
