WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) was the only member of the Tennessee Congressional delegation to receive a perfect score on the Defenders of Wildlife Conservation Report Card for the 2nd Session of the 115th Congress.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that Christ Community Health Services Inc. will be receiving a grant of $5,416,771 from the Department of Health and Human Services for its ongoing work meeting the needs of the medically underserved.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"This significant grant will help Christ Community Health Services meet the medical care necessities of Memphians most in need, and I applaud its dedication."
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) voted to override President Trump's veto of a bipartisan resolution to overturn his declaration of a national emergency on the U.S.-Mexican border and to spend unauthorized money on a wall. The override vote, which requires a two-thirds supermajority, failed by a vote of 248 to 181.

Recently, I testified before the House Budget Committee to advocate for a people-oriented budget that would build a stronger and healthier nation. If our budget is to truly reflect our values, it is time to significantly increase non-defense spending to combat compelling needs at home.

This week saw yet another push from Memphis Congressman Steve Cohen and some Democratic Presidential candidates to abolish the Electoral College.
While President Donald Trump is against the move, some states are trying to bypass Congress and the White House altogether.
Last election the candidate who got the popular vote, Hillary Clinton, did not win the White House.
Cohen says that doesn't make any sense and it's time for a change.
"The candidates should have to appeal for every state," Cohen said.
Whether they're streaming a movie on Netflix or buying a music album on iTunes, consumers are at risk of paying multiple taxes on the digital goods and services they buy. That's simply unfair, and Congress should do something about it.
Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) said Tuesday the Electoral College was "conceived in sin" and originally designed to effectively perpetuate slavery.
"The country is different than it was when the Constitution was drafted," Cohen said on CNN while issuing support for the push to move to a national popular vote for presidential elections.
Cohen criticized the Electoral College's origins, saying, "When the Constitution was drafted, a lot of it had to do with slavery."
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be receiving a $470,098 grant from the National Institute of Mental Health to conduct research into schizophrenia.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"St. Jude is our premier medical institution dealing with childhood illnesses. I'm pleased to announce St. Jude will be receiving this substantial funding to continue its groundbreaking research to identify the causes of schizophrenia and the best ways to treat the complex disease."
