WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN) today voted to eliminate an unpopular tax-reporting requirement in the Affordable Care Act that harms small business owners. The bipartisan measure which the Congressman cosponsored -- The Small Business Paperwork Mandate Elimination Act of 2011(HR 4) -- passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 314-112.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded the University of Tennessee Health Science Center $667,578 for research for mothers and children for a controlled trial of Gabapentin to treat symptoms of Vulvodynia. The federal funds will be distributed through the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) was recognized by the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) for having a perfect voting record on the group’s Continuing Resolution Special Edition National Environmental Scorecard. Congressman Cohen was the only member of the Tennessee delegation to receive a perfect score.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded the University of Memphis $584,315 for biological research related to deafness and communicative disorders. The federal funds will be distributed through the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders. The University of Memphis received a similar award of $292,294 on February 14 from HHS.
