WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today made the following statement on Women’s History Month, which is observed during the month of March each year:

“When the first International Women’s Day was observed in 1911, women in the United States did not have the right to vote and very few could pursue an education or a career. Although they were not officially counted as part of the workforce, American women still did the indispensable work of raising America’s children and tending to the unsung yet vital labors of the home.

WASHINGTON, DC – Late yesterday, Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (VA-03) and Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) met with a senior Justice Department official to follow up on their February 7, 2012 letter to Attorney General Eric H Holder, Jr., requesting his office’s assistance in addressing the problems their constituents are having with the Mo Money tax preparation firm.

In late January of this year, both members’ Congressional offices began to receive complaints from constituents regarding Mo Money. Complaints alleged:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today introduced the Voter ID Accessibility Act to amend the Motor Voter Law to expand access to photo identification in those states that require it for voting.

“Voting is a fundamental right and we must eliminate whatever barriers exist,” said Congressman Cohen. “As long as states continue to pass unfair photo ID laws, the Voter ID Accessibility Act would help ensure that voters in those states will have access to any identification that may be required.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) has received a perfect score on the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Congressional Scorecard for the first session of the 112th Congress. Congressman Cohen was the only member of the Tennessee Congressional delegation to receive a perfect score.
