WASHINGTONAt a Judiciary Committee oversight hearing with FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) praised the work of the FBI in West Tennessee criminal investigations, including the case involving Shelby County Code Enforcement Inspector Mickey Wright, whose racially motivated murder was taken up by the FBI and Justice Department as a federal hate crime after an inadequate state prosecution.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) made the following statement in recognition of World AIDS Day on Friday, December 1:

"This year's World AIDS Day theme is ‘Increasing Impact Through Transparency, Accountability and Partnerships.' We've made great strides in detecting HIV infections and extending the lives of those diagnosed with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) in recent years. Those affected are now able to lead normal lives. But the disease remains a scourge and it's important for everyone to know their HIV status.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) praised today's passage of a resolution (H. Res. 630) requiring Members and Employees of the House of Representatives to complete anti-discrimination and anti-sexual harassment training.

Congressman Cohen was a cosponsor of the resolution, which requires members, their staffs and even unpaid interns to take a course of training in workplace rights and responsibilities, including anti-discrimination and anti-sexual harassment training.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today released the following statement after learning that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) plans to do away with Obama Administration regulations ensuring equal access to the Internet when it meets December 14.
