MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), the Representative from Memphis and a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland asking for a Department of Justice review of the expulsion of Tennessee state Representatives Justin Jones and Justin J. Pearson, and a failed vote to expel Representative Gloria Johnson. The letter reads in part:

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the University of Memphis will receive a grant of $391,858 from the National Science Foundation for a project entitled “Collaborative Research: Costs and Trade-offs of Phenotypically Flexible Responses to Winter Temperature Variability in Birds.” The research is under the direction of College of Health Sciences Assistant Professor Yufeng Zhang.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), who served in the state legislature for 24 years before being elected to Congress in 2006, today attended the Shelby County Commission Special Meeting called to reinstate State Representative Justin J. Pearson, and made the following statement:

WASHINGTON – Congressmen Steve Cohen (TN-9) and Joe Wilson (SC-02), the Ranking Member and Chairman of the U.S. Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, today wrote to Secretary of State Antony Blinken seeking the State Department’s assistance in freeing Washington Post journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza, currently unlawfully detained in Russia by the Putin regime.
