WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today introduced the bipartisan Benton MacKaye Scenic Trail Act, which would designate a 287-mile trail linking Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina as a National Scenic Trail. The trail which crosses mountains and valleys and passes alongside streams and waterfalls is on federal land for 95 percent of its length and would be administered by the U.S. Forest Service.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), who hosted a webinar to teach students how to apply for student debt relief last year, today voted against a Republican-inspired repeal of President Biden’s modest student debt relief plan that has already helped more than 50,000 students in his Congressional District.

The measure passed on a vote of 218 to 203.

Last week, Congressman Cohen sought to amend the resolution in committee with gun violence prevention language supported by major police organizations, but the amendment was ruled out of order.
