WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced that Leo Cormier – a senior at Kingsbury High School in Memphis, Tennessee -- was selected as the winner of the 2011 Congressional Art Competition. The artwork, entitled “I Have a Dream,” will be hung in the Cannon Tunnel in the U.S. Capitol for one year. An image of the artwork is attached to this email.

As a State Senator, Congressman Cohen fought for nearly twenty years before the Tennessee Lottery was established.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) today announced the National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded the University of Memphis $816,756 over the course of four years for a project entitled “Collaborative Research: Northern Embayment Lithosphere Experiment (NELE).” The program deploys seismic instruments to record seismic waves during CAT scans to determine what is causing tectonic depression in the region.

Washington High School of Memphis, Tennessee and five other schools for this year’s Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge.
