WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and its Aviation Subcommittee, today questioned expert witnesses at a hearing on "Disruption in the Skies: The Surge in Air Rage and its Effects on Workers, Airlines, and Airports."

MEMPHIS – Representatives Steve Cohen (TN-09), Ed Case (HI-01), Jahana Hayes (CT-05) and Tim Ryan (OH-13) tonight wrote to Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin seeking information about the U.S.-supplied aircraft Afghan pilots flew to Uzbekistan as the Afghan military collapsed before the Taliban takeover of their country.

The letter reads in part:

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the Memphis Fire Department will be receiving a $10,795,984 grant from the Department of Homeland Security through the Fiscal Year 2020 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program to hire additional firefighters.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the University of Memphis will receive a $450,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for a project entitled "Multimodal Signaling and Communication Analysis of World Leaders" under the direction of Research Assistant Professor Leah Windsor.

This bill is intended to end abuse of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) by autocrats misusing its detention mechanisms to pursue, harass, or persecute political opponents and dissidents with trumped up criminal charges.
