MEMPHIS – Representatives Steve Cohen (TN-09) and Kathleen Rice (NY-04) today introduced the Multiple Substance Impaired Driving Prevention Act to address an under-reported cause of many serious and fatal vehicle accidents. The measure would increase investment in technologies for detecting multiple-substance impairment and improve reporting on the phenomenon. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, Republican of West Virginia, plans to introduce a companion measure in the Senate.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will receive a $763,801 grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease for research targeting innate immune pathways and inflammatory cell death in cytokine-mediated diseases.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"I'm pleased to see NIH funding supporting the critical research at St. Jude. This grant will underwrite research that will advance our understanding in immunology and ultimately improve health outcomes and save lives."
