WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be receiving a $538,500 grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences for work in biological chemistry.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"I'm pleased to announce this significant funding for important research that supports advances in identifying, treating and preventing disease. This funding will keep St. Jude at the apex of research into childhood illnesses."
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen will speak at the dedication of the Russell B. Sugarmon Post Office on Friday after successfully passing legislation last year to honor the late judge and civic leader. A plaque will be unveiled at a 10 a.m. ceremony at the Crosstown Post Office, located at 1325 Autumn Avenue.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) noted the passing of his friend Roger T. Knox, and made the following statement:
"Roger Knox is largely responsible for today's extraordinary Memphis Zoo (but not the parking) where he served as President and CEO from 1989 to 2003. Before that he ran the Memphis-based Goldsmith's department store chain and was actively involved in civic affairs. He was a friend and will be missed. His was a life well lived."
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), and Representatives Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01) and Betty McCollum (MN-04) led a letter with 32 other representatives to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Andrew Wheeler asking for an explanation of why the agency disregarded the advice of its own scientists by issuing a rule restricting but not banning asbestos, a known carcinogen. The letter reads in part:
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen's amendment providing free credit scores to consumers passed the House today and was made a part of the Consumers First Act. The bill provides sweeping consumer protections eroded by the Trump Administration. It passed on a vote of 231 to 191.
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today introduced the Fair Access to Credit Scores Act of 2019, which would provide a free and accurate credit score with the free annual credit reports that are already available to consumers through the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
