MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is investing $17,120,000 for energy efficiency upgrades to housing developments in Covington and Memphis. The owners of Wesley Stage Park in Memphis will receive $5,280,000 and the owners of the Broadmeadow Apartments in Covington will receive $11,840,000.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), the Ranking Member of the Aviation Subcommittee, today applauded Boeing’s decision to overhaul its senior management, including the departure of its chief executive Dave Calhoun at the end of 2024 and its head of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Stan Deal immediately, in the wake of recent serious safety failures. WASHINGTON -- Congressmen Steve Cohen (TN-9) and Rick Crawford (AR-01), along with U.S. Senators John Boozman (R-AR) and Tom Cotton (R-AR), have introduced legislation to create a commemorative coin in remembrance of the greatest maritime disaster in U.S. history – the sinking of the Sultana steamboat off Memphis in 1865.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) will hold a press conference on Tuesday, March 26, to highlight the $1,926,600 in community project funding he secured this year through the appropriations process for the Memphis Police Department. WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced a $611,240 grant to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) to study the regulation of kidney function and blood pressure in aging populations. The funding comes from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.

Markey (D-Mass.), chair of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Subcommittee on Clean Air, Climate, and Nuclear Safety, and today urged Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Chair Joe Ritch and President Jeffrey Lyash not to move forward with a new 1,500 megawatt gas plant and 122-mile pipeline based on an incomplete and insufficient environmental impact statement, which has been called out directly by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its inadequacy.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide $3,355,166 for repairs to damage to the Memphis Light, Gas, and Water (MLGW) Division headquarters building and garage sustained by winter storms in February 2021.
