WASHINGTON -- Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, tonight voted for the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). Congressman Cohen has repeatedly pointed to the positive impacts this bill will have on Memphis and nationwide from economic growth, increased labor participation, and enhanced U.S. competitiveness.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, spoke from the House floor and expressed hope that both the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework, known as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act – which has passed the Senate – and the Build Back Better Act, which is still being negotiated, will pass with bipartisan support.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) went to the House floor this afternoon to commend the Ford Motor Company for its commitment to invest $5.6 billion to build a 3,600-acre mega campus, Blue Oval City, on the Memphis Regional Megasite in Haywood County. The campus will include the Ford assembly plant, a supplier park and a battery manufacturing plant to produce the company's F-series all-electric trucks. The investment is expected to create 5,800 new jobs.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today announced a $22,287,819 Department of Transportation (DOT) grant to Memphis International Airport for the ongoing construction of de-icing pads and related facilities.

MEMPHIS – Representatives Steve Cohen (TN-09), Ed Case (HI-01), Jahana Hayes (CT-05) and Tim Ryan (OH-13) tonight wrote to Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin seeking information about the U.S.-supplied aircraft Afghan pilots flew to Uzbekistan as the Afghan military collapsed before the Taliban takeover of their country.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, today voted for a rule that advances major elements of the Biden-Harris "Build Back Better" infrastructure plan. The rule also set annual budget targets for 2022 through 2031 and sends the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to the floor for a vote later today.
The vote on the rule was 220 to 212.

The House was called back to Washington on Monday, but a vote on a rule to consider the measure, as well as the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Budget Resolution, had to be delayed.
