It is important to provide all children and families access to a quality, affordable education and healthcare to help them secure a prosperous future. As a member of Congress, I have championed for legislation that makes it easier for Americans to balance work and family responsibilities, expands support for foster youth care, and serves the needs of children with special behavioral health needs and/or medical disabilities. I also firmly believe that assisting families in their pursuit of higher education is critical for our nation's growth and success.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) announced today that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis will receive two grants totaling $765,763 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The first grant, for $410,606, from the Department's National Cancer Institute, would pay for cancer treatment research. The second grant, for $355,157, from the Department's National Institute of General Medical Sciences, would underwrite research in pharmacology, physiology and biological chemistry.

On Monday, the Congressman announced Porter-Leath would be receiving $1,207,183 for the same Early Head Start programs.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be receiving a grant of $739,566 from the National Cancer Institute for cancer detection and diagnosis research.

WASHINGTON – On Thursday, August 1, and Friday, August 2, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) will join Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (TX-16), House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) and a delegation of 22 additional House Members to investigate the impact of Trump Administration immigration policies in and around El Paso, Texas. WASHINGTON – As summer vacations draw to a close and students prepare for a new school year, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) and Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today introduced H.R. 3959, the School Bus Safety Act, to help keep students safe as they travel to and from school while also helping prevent accidents involving school buses.
