WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) spoke from the House floor today, making the case that the United States Senate should not agree to Donald Trump’s request to permit recess appointments of his nominees without hearings or votes. He also called for the release of the Ethics Committee report on the conduct of Matt Gaetz, who resigned his House seat on Wednesday night after being nominated for Attorney General.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today announced a $2,419,870 Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to the MidSouth Development District. The SS4A program, established by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) that Congressman Cohen alone among current members of the Tennessee Congressional District voted for, will support a comprehensive safety action plan to reduce traffic injuries and address identified safety needs.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the State of Tennessee will receive a Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grant of $4,438,548 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to upgrade the Memphis firehouse maintenance building at 354 Adams Avenue to current seismic and other building standards. The grant figure represents 90 percent of the total project cost.

News of the photographs was reported Thursday evening in The Daily Beast, along with Trump campaign denunciations of the story.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the Memphis-based MidSouth Development District will receive $21,250,000 through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Regional Conservation Partnership Program for a project providing sustainable improvements to agricultural land with its partners in Shelby, Tipton, Fayette and Lauderdale counties in Tennessee; Crittenden County in Arkansas; and DeSoto County in Mississippi.
