WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, to today wrote Governor Bill Lee for a second time seeking emergency assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for damage done in Memphis and Shelby County by recent winter storms. Congressman Cohen noted that the dollar value of the damage now exceeds the minimum federal threshold.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today wrote to Governor Bill Lee seeking emergency disaster assistance after recent winter storms did serious damage in Shelby County. The letter reads in part:

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today wrote to Governor Bill Lee asking him to help resolve an impasse in contract negotiations between BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare that could result in the state’s most vulnerable children losing access to necessary services and therapies within weeks.

Kennedy throughout his career in public office, expressed disappointment with the National Archives and Records Administration’s limited release of the remaining records, and made the following statement today:

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), the Co-Chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, also known as the Helsinki Commission, today questioned witnesses at a Commission hearing on “The Alarming Rise in Antisemitism and its Threat to Democracy.”

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the Shelby County Board of Education will receive a grant of $13,360,628 to operate its Head Start programs. The funding comes from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that the University of Memphis and LeBonheur Community Health and Well-Being will both receive substance abuse and mental health services grants from the Department of Health and Human Services. The university will receive $238,569 and LeBonheur Community Health will receive $250,000. Both are identified by the department as projects of regional and national significance.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Memphis Health Center will receive $515,258 and Tri-State Community Health Center will receive $139,472 to expand their COVID-19 vaccination capacities.
