WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) applauded Gov. Bill Haslam's announcement Wednesday of the inclusion of three important Civil Rights historic sites in Memphis as part of the newly announced multi-state U.S. Civil Rights Trail, and made the following statement:

"I am proud to have worked with Representative Turner, both in her capacity as Executive Secretary of the NAACP and in the Tennessee General Assembly. Like her husband, she has been a voice of truth and a fighter for justice, and is among the last of a generation of civil rights leaders who have done so much for Memphis. I appreciate her many years of dedicated service, and she will be missed in Nashville."

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) reacted to today's Grand Jury indictments against 13 Russian nationals by Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of pro-Trump Russian influence in the 2016 campaign, and made the following statement:
"The Russians' use of false U.S. personas and social media designed to attract U.S. audiences with divisive political and social issues was clearly intended to sway American voters, and succeeded. Russian manipulation influenced the psychology of American voters.
This week, I deplored yet another school shooting, commended senators for recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Memphis Sanitation Workers Strike, reacted to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Grand Jury indictment of 13 Russian nationals, offered a "Fresh Start" to non-violent ex-offenders, welcomed new co-sponsors to my impeachment resolution, opposed the imposition of delays for compliance with the ADA, invited constituents to sign up for Telephone Town Halls, voted against a predatory lending bill, and offered a heart-healthy February health tip.
