WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) announced that Memphis Health Center Inc., Porter-Leath, and the Shelby County Board of Education will be receiving grants totaling $21,309,797 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Porter-Leath will receive $1,385,603 to operate its Head Start programs and the Board of Education will receive $14,553,699 to operate its Head Start programs. Memphis Health Center will receive $5,370,495 to support its programs.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) learned of the death of Memphis Police Officer Joseph McKinney and the wounding of two of his colleagues this morning and made the following statement:

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today applauded notice that the City of West Memphis will receive a $16,155,550 Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (PROTECT) grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today announced that $18,446,336 has been allocated for the Memphis-based tri-state region by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The funding comes from funding from both the Mass Transit Account of the Highway Trust Fund, advance appropriations provided by the historic Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and annual appropriations.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), who represents the Memphis Congressional District where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated 56 years ago this Thursday, made the following statement for the anniversary of that terrible historic event:

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is investing $17,120,000 for energy efficiency upgrades to housing developments in Covington and Memphis. The owners of Wesley Stage Park in Memphis will receive $5,280,000 and the owners of the Broadmeadow Apartments in Covington will receive $11,840,000.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the Tipton County Board of Education will receive an additional $11,224,734 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for replacement of Crestview Elementary School in Covington destroyed in the storms and tornadoes of March of last year.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), the Ranking Member of the Aviation Subcommittee, today applauded Boeing’s decision to overhaul its senior management, including the departure of its chief executive Dave Calhoun at the end of 2024 and its head of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Stan Deal immediately, in the wake of recent serious safety failures. WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) will hold a press conference on Tuesday, March 26, to highlight the $1,926,600 in community project funding he secured this year through the appropriations process for the Memphis Police Department.
