WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and its Subcommittee on Aviation, expressed his disappointment at a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) study of airplane seat sizes as it relates to the emergency evacuations of passengers.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today spoke in favor of and voted for the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act. The measure removes cannabis from the list of federal controlled substances, raises revenue from sales to reinvest in communities disproportionately harmed by the war on drugs and expunges the records of federal criminal marijuana offenses.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Representative Steve Cohen (TN-09) and U.S. Senator Michael Bennet of Colorado today introduced the Restorative Practices in Schools Act, legislation to help schools and districts build safe, inclusive learning environments and to encourage the use of restorative practices in place of overly harsh punitive discipline policies, like "zero tolerance," which often result in disproportionate punishment for minor infractions.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced a $66,347,259 investment in Tennessee for the Weatherization Assistance Program authorized by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) that only he and Congressman Jim Cooper (TN-05) in the Tennessee Congressional delegation supported.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today voted for the Affordable Insulin Now Act, addressing the high cost of a disease that is far too prevalent in Shelby County, affecting approximately one in nine adults.
The vote on passage was 232 to 193.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand led 25 of their colleagues in a letter urging Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Pete Buttigieg to swiftly execute the provisions from their Stop Underrides Act, which passed in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The legislation requires the creation of a rule within a year of enactment mandating trucks to have strengthened rear underride guards to stop cars from sliding underneath trucks in the event of a crash.
