WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) is commemorating the week-long Days of Remembrance of the Holocaust that precede and follow Holocaust Remembrance Day, also known as Yom HaShoah, to be observed on Thursday. The Days of Remembrance began on Sunday, April 24, and end on Sunday, May 1.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Co-Chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, also known as the Helsinki Commission, today expressed his concern at Russia's handling of the case against opposition leader and journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that Tennessee will receive $7,692,249 in federal funds to bring down heating and cooling costs for working families. These investments, secured through last month's government funding legislation, will be used to reduce Tennesseans' energy bills, provide crisis assistance and help weatherize homes.
"As working families contend with rising global energy prices, it is important that we bring down costs and ensure that Memphis and Tennessee homes remain safe, comfortable and affordable," said Congressman Cohen.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today announced that Tennessee will receive $139,172,276 under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) that only he and Jim Cooper (TN-05) voted for in Tennessee's Congressional delegation. The funding will provide all Tennesseans with more transportation options, ease congestion in local communities and reduce carbon pollution across the state.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Co-Chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, better known as the Helsinki Commission, today questioned expert witnesses at a briefing on the Diverse Voices Reporting from Ukraine. In his remarks, Co-Chairman Cohen said that the U.S. and its allies must do more to supply Ukraine with the military equipment it needs to win the war against Russia.

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Co-Chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, better known as the Helsinki Commission, today wrote to Secretary of State Antony Blinken recommending a travel ban on six foreign enablers of Russian oligarchs.
In his letter Congressman Cohen wrote in part:

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), Co-Chairman of the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, has written a follow-up letter to President Biden seeking sanctions against Russian oligarch and Putin ally Roman Abramovich. In the new letter, Congressman Cohen also recommends sanctions against suspected Putin mistress, Alina Kabaeva.
The letter reads in part:

MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), the Co-Chairman of the Helsinki Commission, today expressed outrage at the arrest of Russian opposition leader and journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza who testified March 29 before the commission at a hearing on "Propaganda and Censorship in Russia: Putin's War on Truth."

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) went to the Gallery of the United States Senate this afternoon to observe the historic confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today voted for the Relief for Restaurants and Other Hard Hit Small Businesses Act to replenish funding for restaurants and establish a new program to support other small businesses still struggling with the impact of the pandemic.
The vote on passage was 223 to 203.
