[WASHINGTON, DC] – On Thursday morning, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) took to the floor of the House of Representatives to urge the passage of a multi-year reauthorization of the highway trust fund.

“There is nothing more important for this Congress to do than create jobs for the American public. The best way to create jobs is to pass an extension of the Highway Act,” said Congressman Cohen. “I pledge to support efforts to get a transportation bill passed and to make America proud of its infrastructure again – bridges, runways and roads.”

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded $2,247,757.18 in funding to the State of Tennessee to help Shelby Country recover from March’s severe winter storms and repair electrical distribution systems. This funding follows President Obama’s April 11 Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Tennessee.

[MEMPHIS, TN] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) was joined by Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Operations and Management Jan Murphy at a town hall with over 150 Mid-south veterans this morning to discuss ongoing concerns about scheduling and the quality of care at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC). Following the town hall, Congressman Cohen and Under Secretary Murphy also toured Memphis VAMC.
